Last year, more than 55 different rescue groups came to ARC for spay/neuter services. Our team cared for more than 3,304 dogs and cats who were on their way to loving homes. ARC is honored to be the spay/neuter resource for so many wonderful organizations, but we want to do more.

Ready Set Rescue!

County shelters struggle with the high volume of cats and dogs coming in to their facilities. To help alleviate this, many of our rescue partners transfer animals from county shelters for their own adoption programs. In support of this collaboration, ARC offers our rescue partners free spay/neuter  for animals that have been transferred from  Desoto, Highland, Sarasota, Okeechobee, Glade, and St Lucie county shelters.

Ready Set Rescue! saves lives

This past July, ARC received an urgent call from a county shelter out east. After an incredibly busy “kitten season,” the shelter was full and they had just received several beautiful cats but had no place to put them. They had exhausted their list of rescues, as everyone was overflowing with cats and kittens. Knowing that ARC was working on this program, they called to see if we could help place the cats so they would not have to be euthanized. ARC sent out a few emails letting the rescues know that the spay/neuter, vaccines and medical treatment for these cats would be covered if they could please get out to the shelter as soon as possible. It worked!

Romeo's
Feral Cat Fund

Named in honor of Romeo, the cherished cat of a long-time ARC supporter, this fund supports Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) efforts to reduce the overpopulation of community cats in our region.

Every year, thousands of feral and free-roaming cats face harsh conditions, disease, starvation, and the threat of euthanasia in overcrowded shelters. TNVR is the only humane, effective method proven to reduce colony size and improve the lives of these cats.

Through Romeo’s Fund, ARC provides spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, deworming, and ear tips to cats living in colonies. These cats are then returned to their environment - no longer reproducing, but now healthier and protected.  Thanks to the generosity of ARC donors, these services are provided at no cost to the dedicated people who trap community cats and bring them to ARC for surgery.

TNVR benefits everyone:
- Prevents the birth of unwanted litters
- Improves cat health and reduces suffering
- Decreases shelter intake and euthanasia rates
- Reduces nuisance behaviors like yowling and spraying

When you support Romeo’s Fund, you’re helping these often-overlooked animals live safer, healthier lives.
